The smartphone market is turning around again after a long time. The third quarter of the year, July to September, saw dramatic changes. Samsung has removed Huawei from the top spot. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corporation has overtaken Apple in capturing markets in China and Europe. Market research firm Canalis reported the information. A report by the news agency Reuters has given this information.

According to Canalys, market growth slowed to 1 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period last year. In the last 3 months, 348 million units of smartphones have come into the market. In the second quarter of the year, which is affected by Corona, the sales of smartphones have increased by 22 percent as compared to April to June.

According to Reuters, Samsung has returned to the top in the Indian market due to increased sales of Samsung's smartphones. Chinese brands are in trouble in the country for political reasons. Huawei has slipped to second place in the global smartphone market due to US sanctions.

Apple launched the iPhone earlier this month. But Apple has dropped to fourth place in the market as the new iPhone did not come in the previous quarter. The third place in the market is Xiaomi. They sold 47.1 million units of smartphones in the third quarter. The company has grown by 45 percent compared to last year.

According to a report by Market Research Counterpoint last Thursday, the iPhone 11 model was the best-selling phone in the Chinese market despite falling to fourth place in the smartphone market. 

With the arrival of the new iPhone, iPhone sales in the Chinese market fell by 29 percent. Apple is expected to do well in the current quarter. Xiaomi has done the best in the Chinese market. Their sales have increased by 7 percent compared to last year.

According to Counterpoint, the Chinese market is shrinking as the world's largest smartphone market. The rate of arrival of smartphones in the market has decreased by 14 percent.

Mo Xia, a market analyst at California, said Xiaomi has been aggressive in snatching market share from Huawei. Huawei's smartphone release rate has dropped by 25 percent and Xiaomi's has risen to 88 percent.

Experts see Huawei's future in the smartphone market as uncertain as US sanctions on chips continue.

Richard Yu, chief executive of Huawei Consumer Business, says they will stop making Kirin chipset-based smartphones from September. Kirin is a high-end chipset that uses US technology.
